What XBTPro is
XBTPro was a centralised cryptocurrency exchange that appeared at the end of 2019, when the first pages of its help centre were archived. It offered spot trading on a few pairs (bitcoin, ether, XRP, litecoin, stellar, dash and others, against bitcoin, ether, USDT or NEXBT), with its website in English, Russian, Chinese and Korean, and its own token, NEXBT, offered through a sale on the platform itself (IEO) and used for welcome bonuses. In 2020 margin trading and a demo mode were advertised as "coming soon"; in 2021 the website was redesigned. The archived pages consulted show no names of founders or executives, and the terms of use did not name the company that ran the exchange.
Regulation and licences
(Verified: October 2026)
- MiCA: NOT APPLICABLE — the website stopped working before 30 December 2024, the date from which MiCA applies to crypto-asset service providers; XBTPro does not appear in the ESMA register and its terms of use did not mention any licences.
- No warning or blocking order from CONSOB (Italy's securities regulator) for the name or the domain; no entry on the warning lists of the FCA (United Kingdom) and the AMF (France).
Security
XBTPro claimed to keep 90% of funds in multi-signature cold wallets and described itself as "approved" by BlueSwarm, a cybersecurity provider whose website, blueswarm.site, no longer appears to be active: an approval that can no longer be verified. There are no public hacks or thefts on record (Verified: October 2026), but the fate of the funds left on the platform when the website was shut down remains unknown.
Headquarters and contacts
- The terms of use (archived copy from 2021) gave only a postal address: Suite 305, Griffith Corporate Centre, Beachmont, Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. No company name.
- Service no longer active: no link.
Alternatives
For anyone looking for a similar service that is operating and authorised in the EU:
- Kraken — MiCA licence from the Central Bank of Ireland (June 2025)
- Bitstamp — MiCA licence from Luxembourg's CSSF (May 2025)
- Crypto.com — MiCA licence from Malta's MFSA (January 2025)
FAQ
Is XBTPro still active? No. The website has not responded since at least July 2024 and we found no closure announcements (Verified: October 2026).
Can I recover funds left on XBTPro? There is no official channel on record, and the terms of use did not name a company to contact. Be wary of anyone promising recoveries in exchange for a payment.
