On 14 October 2026 Amber International announced that WhaleFin Markets Limited, a Hong Kong company in the Amber group, will not pursue the licence application it submitted to the SFC, Hong Kong's markets regulator (filing with the SEC). What WhaleFin is

WhaleFin was Amber Group's crypto-asset platform for the general public; the group was founded in 2017 and Michael Wu is one of its co-founders. Launched in Singapore on 15 December 2021, it brought together the tools of Amber Pro and the Amber app. According to the launch press release, it allowed users to trade more than a hundred crypto-assets and offered yield products, structured products and margin trading with crypto-backed loans, instruments that can lead to a loss of capital. In December 2022, after the collapse of FTX, Amber Group cut staff and costs and terminated its sponsorship deal with Chelsea; the press reported a halt to its retail activities, but the WhaleFin app remained available. On 12 March 2025 Amber Group's digital wealth management arm merged with the listed company iClick Interactive Asia Group, renamed Amber International Holding. Since 30 April 2025, according to the company, WhaleFin has been called Amber Premium, a service aimed mainly at institutional and high-net-worth clients. (Verified: October 2026)
