Determined and ambitious, Adam formed his early career as a futures trader at the London International Financial Futures & Options Exchange (LIFFE).
By mastering the short-term scalping style of trading, Adam became an aggressive high-frequency trader, quickly entering and exiting positions and trading the smallest price fluctuations.
As a scalper, due to his very active trading, however, he often suffered from high commissions. These commissions often turned his winning days into losing days and were 'the bane of his life' as a trader. He dreamed of a trading ecosystem where commissions were completely removed.
After four years in the hectic world of trading, Adam took a sabbatical to travel the world and worked trading peer-to-peer Betfair bets. Instead of buying and selling futures contracts, Adam bought and sold bets that people placed on horses.
Just like the German government bonds he once traded, he had no knowledge of or interest in horses; he simply learnt to trade on the spur of the moment, buying and selling bets for small profits, strengthening his skills as a scalper.
While trading at Betfair, Adam created a trading ladder, borrowed from the futures industry, that would allow him and other traders to place bets with a single click, rather than having to use the clunky web interface.
Adam's trading scale became so popular that he was able to go from being a full-time trader to running a software app. When he discovered Ethereum and the ability to create his own token, Adam realised he could create a platform and offer zero-commission trading to the world.
He could also enable quick trades with a scale similar to the one he created for Betfair. Thus Digitex Futures was born. With an ICO in 2018 and development ongoing since then, Adam is constantly learning.
It's not easy being a pioneer in an emerging industry, building an unprecedented product. However, he has continued the journey, fuelled by his dream of trading at zero commissions.
With the testnet launching on 30 November, soon the ex-pit trader who never gave up will finally see the fruits of his labour.
Adam is preparing to shake up the cryptocurrency futures ecosystem by removing commissions and loving every minute of it.
