Brian Armstrong is the CEO of Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States.

Armstrong attended Rice University in 2001, where he earned a master's degree in computer science. In 2003, Armstrong founded UniversityTutor.com and in 2011 began working as a software engineer at AirBnB.

Armstrong co-founded Coinbase, based in San Francisco, in 2012. Coinbase raised $300 million in October 2018 in a funding round led by Tiger Global that valued the company at $8 billion.
