What Velo Trust is

Velo Trust described itself as a "boutique" crypto exchange platform headquartered in London: instant swaps across more than 100 cryptocurrencies and tokens in roughly 10 minutes via the web, with no fiat on-ramp and no mobile app, and with declared roots as an escrow and OTC service dating back to 2014. Independent information has always been scarce: a handful of Trustpilot reviews (around twenty, mixed in tone), a bare-bones Crunchbase profile and reviews from comparison sites that flagged, among other things, the absence of two-factor authentication. As of 2 September 2026 velotrust.com no longer serves any platform: it responds with a domain parking page. The service must be considered non-operational. Regulation and licences

  • MiCA: NO — no CASP authorisation in the name of Velo Trust appears in public sources, nor any other known licence (FCA or equivalent).
  • Current status: service unreachable. No official closure announcement was found: the website simply no longer exists. (Verified: September 2026)
  • For users in the EU: even when it was online, Velo Trust was not an entity authorised to operate in the EU under MiCA.

Security

There are no documented hacks, but neither are there audits, proof of reserves or verifiable safeguards: even while operating, the platform did not offer 2FA according to industry reviews. The useful lesson for readers is a general one: a service with a minimal public footprint, which can vanish without any announcement, is the opposite of the counterparty profile that the post-2026 MiCA framework allows you to choose.

Alternatives

  • ChangeNOW — active multi-asset instant swap service
  • Kraken — regulated exchange with a MiCA licence via Ireland

FAQ

Was Velo Trust regulated? Public sources show no licence: neither MiCA/CASP in the EU nor any known authorisation in the United Kingdom, where it claimed to be headquartered.
