Donald Trump released a second edition of NFTs on Tuesday, and although he boasted that he made $4.6 million, the actual value of the cards dropped significantly.
The former president announced on 18 April that he was selling another set of NFT trading cards, similar to those released last December.
"I am pleased to inform you that, due to the great success of my previous DIGITAL EXCHANGE CARDS, we are doing it again, SERIES 2, AVAILABLE NOW," Mr Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.
About six hours later, Mr Trump declared that all of his 47,000 digital exchange cards were sold out, totalling $4.6 million.
But the actual value of the swap cards tells a different story, as the minimum price dropped from 0.42945 ETH to 0.18 ETH within 24 hours, according to OpenSea.
Despite the figures, Mr Trump boasted of the success of his swap cards.
"A great honour, and I hope everyone is Happy, Healthy and Rich," Mr Trump wrote.
Mr Trump also announced the new trading cards on Instagram, marking his first post since 6 January 2021 - the day he stormed the Capitol - and since his account was restored last February.
"Trump posted a second photo on Instagram for the first time since 6 January. A second NFT of him in a superhero costume wearing a championship belt. Kind of an amazing juxtaposition here," tweeted NBC reporter Ben Collins.
On Twitter, people mocked the new illustrations.
One of the NFTs features Mr Trump resembling George Washington.
Another depicts him grilling hamburgers and hot dogs while standing next to a Labrador Retriever.
Other cards depict him as the King of Hearts, sitting on a motorbike while playing the guitar, and a soldier.
According to the website, each card has a "pre-assigned rarity" with some cards being one-of-a-kind. The website states that no digital card will have "more than 10 existing copies".
The website also states that if a person buys 47 digital cards, they will be able to get a ticket to a gala dinner with the former president at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
The dinner includes "high quality entertainment and catering".
