Spin Master and Doodles, two companies that are not exactly engaged in the Web3 world, have decided to enter it, through the production of an NFT celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Rubik's cube. The famous brainteaser is ready to cross the digital frontier.
Doodles' idea for relaunching the Rubik's Cube
When you've been voted the best pastime ever, you don't exactly need a relaunch strategy.
The Rubik's Cube is much more than a hobby. It is a test of logical mastery in its own right, as evidenced by the numerous tournaments held around the world between the fastest to solve the arcane puzzle and colour each face of the solid a different hue. At the same time, however, from a manufacturer's point of view it is never wrong to try to maximise the return from a successful product. So here's the idea: let's make the cube an up-to-date gadget and introduce it to the NFT.
This was the reasoning behind the collaboration between the two entertainment companies and Rubik's Cubes to give rise to Rubik's Pack Ripping, an experience that will link the purchase of a cube, during its 50th anniversary promotion, with the chance to win exclusive collectables, both physical and - above all - digital. Among the former is a stunning diamond-set cube signed by Eliantte & Co.; the latter includes a long series of unique dedicated tokens.
Nostalgia and Innovation in the Sign of Money
The idea was promoted by the manufacturer as an initiative to celebrate the cube's first 50 years, and the coming ones, in the sign of the fusion of technology and tradition. Julian Holguin, CEO of Doodles and the main architect of the NFT project, emphasised that the object's fifty candles are meant to be an incentive to celebrate art and collecting.
In the idea of the promoters, there is an anniversary that is destined to become memorable, combining nostalgia and innovation. Or at least, that is how the initiative is advertised.
In reality, it is likely that they want to increase the takings from a timeless classic by trying to give it a makeover and leveraging the temporary promo.
NFT Relative to the Rubik's Cube and gain possibility
Regardless of the commercial strategies, what may interest the private investor (or collector, of course) is that a new opportunity for purchase and eventual resale is about to open up.
The Rubik's cube is a popular gift for many, as well as a beautiful object to keep in the home and, starting this year, will also become a possible investment.
The NFT market is very difficult to read about, and at SpazioCrypto we do not in any way want to push readers to dive headlong into it. We do, however, want to emphasise the fact that there is an opportunity to get into it, thanks to the half-century Rubik's cube, and to do so at a barrier of entry that we believe will be affordable for everyone (the price of this edition of the cube has not yet been revealed, and the product will most likely be offered for sale within the winter holiday window).
These birthday celebrations, then, could offer you the chance to become an NFT owner at a time when the segment is growing and many names are betting on it, as we have already told you.
