Memecoins continue to gui Over the past 24 hours, meme cryptocurrencies have occupied the top nine positions in the top ten most popular cryptocurrencies among the top 100. On a weekly basis, they occupy six out of ten places. The market capitalisation of all memecoins increased by 12 per cent overnight to $130 billion.

Many of the top memecoins are in some way related to both animals and politics. The absolute champion is Peanut the Squirrel (PNUT), a coin created in honour of Pinat the Squirrel, a squirrel subjected to forced euthanasia before the US election.

The story of Peanut caused a public stir and was mentioned by Trump supporters during the election campaign. Since trading began on 3 November, PNUT has risen 2900%, from $0.07 to $2.10. In the last 24 hours alone, it has risen 113%.

The biggest spike in PNUT's growth came after it was listed on Binance on 11 November. In that time, the coin grew in value by more than 300%, from $0.10 to $0.43.

The second is PEPE, a token based on the Pepe the Frog meme. Interestingly, in 2023, the first post on the X 'frog' account showed his image wearing a red hat with the words 'Make Memecoins Great Again', referring to Donald Trump's presidential slogan.

On the afternoon of 13 November, PEPE was added to the US platforms Coinbase and Robinhood. Subsequently, the token's listing was announced by the Upbit exchange. In one day, it rose by 73%, in one week by 122%.

In third place for price increase during the day is dogwifhat (WIF), whose listing was also announced on 13 November by the Coinbase exchange platform. The coin rose 40% in 24 hours and 78% in a week.

The Brett (BRETT) token was created in honour of a comic book character called Brett, a friend of Pepe the Frog. On 13 November, the exchange Upbit announced the listing of Brett, which added 30% to its value during the day.

In fourth place is Popcat (POPCAT) with an increase of almost 28%. Bonk (BONK), FLOKI (FLOKI) and cat in a dogs world (MEW) complete the top nine with price increases of 21.5%, 21% and 18%, respectively.

Crypto Projects Embrace Memecoin Identity in the Middle of Vertiginous Growth Rates: Dogecoin Leads the Group.

In the context of the impressive rise in memecoin rates among crypto projects, a joke arose on social media that these coins now "identify themselves as memecoins."

"Given the current market situation, I now identify myself as memecoin," reads a message posted by the accounts of various cryptocurrency services, including Litecoin, Tron, Manta and many others.

Dogecoin (DOGE) did not make it to the top of the cryptocurrencies with the largest increase in value overnight (+5%). But in the past week, DOGE has risen 109%, making it the third highest growing cryptocurrency in that period.

On the evening of 12 November, Trump announced that Elon Musk would become co-director of the new Department of Government Efficiency in the US. According to Musk's idea, the department's acronym folds into D.O.G.E. - the ticker symbol of his favourite cryptocurrency.

On the back of this positive news, Dogecoin's capitalisation surpassed $59 billion, with the coin beating more than 60 per cent of the companies in the S&P 500 index in terms of market value.
