When you hear that the NFTs sector is in rapid decline, don't believe it. If it is true, as it is, that the segment no longer pulls like it did a couple of years ago, it is still possible to put some nice gains on record. Just ask Puma and UNKJD Studios.
The well-known sports footwear and accessories retailer has in fact partnered with the software developer to provide new experiences for players of their football app, UNKJD Soccer. Users who wish to shop within the app will be able to unlock branded characters and kits from the manufacturer by wearing or using them during their matches.
An Important Incursion in the Web3
According to UNKJD's CEO, the collaboration with Puma represents a major step forward within the Web3 landscape. In his words:
In fact, Puma's initiative represents one of the first concrete forays by a global brand into the blockchain-based mobile games universe. It is therefore a landmark act that underscores how decentralised technologies are generating an ever-increasing impact in the entertainment industry.
The inclusion of fully branded Puma accessories and characters in the app will enrich the entire gaming experience, as well as offer fans of the brand the opportunity to interact with it in innovative and engaging ways.
UNKJD between Sport and Collectibles
UNKJD has created a universe of collectible sports characters, making them true NFTs to keep in one's virtual noticeboard. The graphics of its games are original and the apps are a lot of fun. They are not sports simulations, but a mix of sports and strategic role-playing. The gameplay is optimised for small screens, such as those of mobile phones or tablets, and the games are quite additive. Each character is unique and characterised by his or her own abilities, which can be earned or improved by spending time on the avatar's growth, or by completing transactions in the application's internal currency, which is purchased by paying in cryptocurrency.
The gaming world lends itself very well to initiatives such as Puma's, as part of the fun lies in customising one's virtual alter ego.
Puma at the Conquest of the Web3
From Puma's perspective, this initiative is an interesting opportunity to look at the Web3 and explore its possibilities. Indeed, blockchain and related technologies have the potential to transform the way brands and consumers interact. The sporting goods manufacturer has realised this and has embarked on a strategy that, in effect, makes it a true pioneer in the field.
The brand wants to prove itself ready to lead the transition to a more digital and interactive consumer future. It is a safe bet that in doing so, it will have the eyes of all its major competitors on it.
