What Reflective Ventures is

Reflective Venture Partners was founded in 2018 in Seattle as the investment arm linked to RChain Cooperative, a "third generation" blockchain platform. The plan, presented in February 2018, was to invest the cryptocurrency equivalent of more than 190 million dollars in startups and dApps built on the RChain ecosystem, with the ambition of making the Seattle area a blockchain hub. Over the course of 2018 it announced partnerships and investments (including Swytch). The fund's fate, however, is tied to RChain's: as early as the end of 2019 the industry press described the cooperative as "functionally bankrupt" and today RChain's official site carries a notice of the cooperative's dissolution. Reflective has shown no public investment activity for years and its original website is decommissioned (Verified: September 2026). The 2018 team included Greg Heuss (managing partner), David Otto and Steve Careaga (general partner), Mrinal Manohar and Kevin Valentine (venture partner), Lee Carter (principal) and Shahan Khoshafian (senior associate); Manohar later left the RChain/Reflective orbit and is known as co-founder and long-time CEO of Casper Labs.

Regulation and licences

  • A private US venture capital firm: MiCA not applicable (no crypto services to the public, either then or now).
  • Current corporate status: no documented public activity; the entity's formal legal status — liquidated, dormant or dissolved — does not emerge from public sources. (Verified: September 2026 — the absence of activity; not the formal status)

Security

Not a matter of user fund custody: Reflective never managed retail client money. The "incident" to recount is the collapse of the ecosystem it depended on: RChain Cooperative accumulated liabilities (including around 15 million dollars outstanding on a 23.5 million acquisition), lost key developers and board members between 2019 and subsequent years, and is today officially dissolved, with the RHOC/REV token having no significant market. Anyone searching for "Reflective Ventures" today should know that the underlying project no longer exists. (Verified: September 2026)

FAQ

  • Does Reflective Ventures still exist? There have been no investments, communications or active official website for years; the RChain cooperative, to which the fund was tied, is dissolved. Its formal legal status, however, does not emerge from public registers.
  • What was the relationship with RChain? Reflective was born precisely out of a strategic partnership with RChain Cooperative to finance dApps on the RChain ecosystem: the fund invested the cryptocurrency equivalent (RHOC) made available by the cooperative.
